Don't compete with other women.

Today, I am going to London!  I have still have to pack and clean but this is more important, dammit!  I think I will have Wi-fi in the flat, in which case I will try to still update, particularly because I want a record of my trip.  Otherwise, Brie will just keep posting the messages at daily intervals (snicker).  Anyway, I think we are in constant competition with other women, either for men, jobs, or attention.  It is slightly embarrassing sometimes.
AMANDA

I agree, it is very embarrassing when women fight over men or attention. We should lift each other up and encourage each other! After all, haven't we learned anything from Amanda's recent experience with her geometry student?

Don't buy products that degrade women.  Celebrate yourself.

This is interesting because I just had an...interesting conversation with a chauvinistic pig.  I tutor this guy in geometry every other day because I am just an awesome person.  He informed me that women belong in the kitchen and that we shouldn't be allowed to drive.  He then proceeded to ask if he had got a problem correct.  When I innocently told him that I simply couldn't read the worksheet because it wasn't a recipe, he called me a bitch.  Aw, men.
AMANDA

I am one of the first people who will jump in a conversation to defend women. I truly believe that women can do anything they set their minds to. I respect myself too much to support something that degrades women.

P.S. I'm really sorry that happened to you, Amanda. Some people are just so mean :(

Help someone today.

So I usually tutor a kid who is struggling in geometry every other day.  I also am a part of several charitable organizations.  Of course, it is also the little things that make other people's days easier.  Today I am going to try to brighten the days of people in my life as much as possible.

I try to give someone a compliment at least twice a day. I almost always have a smile on my face  and I always hold doors open for people. I think the light inside of you and the happiness you are feeling is contagious.

Pay attention to one meal.  Don't do anything else while you are eating it.  Enjoy.

I constantly watch television when I eat.  Actually, that is the only time I watch television. Every weekend, I eat lunch and watch 24 or Seinfeld.  I love it!  However, I think there is something to savoring your food.  I also don't think you should snack whenever you eat because you never notice how much you are eating.  I guess I can give this a shot...
AMANDA

I watch TV while I eat, too. I love the idea of sitting and focusing on your food. When I go to restaurants, I pay attention to my meal but I also talk to whoever I'm with. I'll have to try eating in silence. I'm just always in such a rush! I need to make more time for myself.

Sometimes, you need professional help.  There is nothing shameful in that.

I have never had a therapist but I really don't think it is embarrassing.  However, I am not going to presume to give advice on this so I will cut this post short.
AMANDA

I have never had a therapist either. I think going to therapy can be a very helpful thing, and women shouldn't hesitate to ask for help if they need it. You could say that my close friends are my little therapy group, and they always give great advice. But if I someday need professional help, I won't feel ashamed about it.

Choose something that you can't stop obsessing about.  Take a deep breath and say "I choose not to think or talk about this anymore."

I am thinking of a particularly awkward romantic relationship.  I choose not to think or talk about this anymore.
AMANDA

Right now everything I am obsessing about is happy and exciting! I will definitely use this advice at a later date, though :)

If you choose the wrong path, change it.  You have the power.

Sorry I have not been writing lately.  My sister has come to visit and we have been spending a lot of time together.  I am going through a really happy time right now.  I am seeing my sister, I feel confident, and I am going to London in a week.  Things are turning around for ole Liz Lemon!  Anyway, I think that we have the power to move forward.  I have learned this from repeated viewings of Real Housewives.  Just have a bunco party and you can fix any friendship.
AMANDA

Things have been going really well for me, too! Everything in my life is perfect right now. Someone told me today that I'm "glowing". That's how happy I am! In the past I have always left creating change to other people. My new goal is to create change for myself. If I'm not happy with something, I'm going to do something about it!
